Etsy Listing AI Optimizer ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps Etsy sellers optimize their product listing titles, tags, and descriptions using artificial intelligence. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how it's processed, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

The Extension collects and processes the following data:

• Etsy listing content: When you click "Optimize," the Extension reads the title, tags, and description from the Etsy listing edit page you are currently viewing. This content is sent to an AI provider for optimization.
• API keys (BYOK mode): If you use Bring Your Own Key mode, your OpenAI or Anthropic API key is stored locally in your browser's Chrome storage. It is never transmitted to our servers.
• Waitlist email: If you sign up for the waitlist on our website, we store your email address to notify you when the extension launches.

2. How Your Data Is Processed

When you optimize a listing:

• BYOK mode: Your listing text is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) using your own API key. Our servers are not involved. We never see your listing data.
• Proxy mode: Your listing text is sent to our serverless API endpoint, which forwards it to OpenRouter for AI processing. The text is not stored — it is processed in memory and discarded after the response is returned.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) beyond waitlist emails.
• We do not track your browsing history or activity on Etsy.
• We do not store your listing content on any server or database.
• We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties for advertising or profiling.
• We do not use cookies or tracking scripts in the Extension.

4. Data Storage

• Extension settings (API keys, preferences) are stored locally in Chrome's chrome.storage.local and never leave your device.
• Waitlist emails are stored securely in our database and used solely for launch notifications.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension may interact with the following third-party services:

• OpenAI API (api.openai.com) — for AI-powered listing optimization in BYOK mode.
• Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) — for AI-powered listing optimization in BYOK mode.
• OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — for AI-powered listing optimization in proxy mode.

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

6. Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab: To read and modify content on the current Etsy listing page when you click "Optimize."
• storage: To save your settings (API keys, preferences) locally in the browser.
• Host permissions (etsy.com): To detect when you are on an Etsy listing page and inject the optimization UI.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
